But wait, this isn't only strange thing about it.
Quantum physics is weird. Once you say you understand it, you get 5 more reasons to argue it. Same is in case here. the normal model of Quantum mechanics says everything is made up of elementary particles like quark, electrons, protons. String theory says everything is just a string vibrating in its own way. yes, it summates more complexities but it solves many decade old problems.
Just look at the standard model which says everything it made up of 12 elementary particles
We have six quarks and six leptons which make up particles. photons bind the electromagnetic waves, gluons are the "glue" that binds up the strong nuclear forces, while W and Z bosons are responsible for weak nuclear forces. As we know there are four fundamental forces Gravity, Electromagnetism, Strong and Weak nuclear forces. Astonishingly scientists aren't able to explain the most famous force-Gravity. And here comes the string theory, assuming everything to be vibrating strings just like guitar chords which produce different sounds ,here different particles it becomes simple to assume an imaginary particle called Graviton( responsible for gravity), which scientist have proposed but it isn't proved & Kudos the mystery is solved. Moreover finally the four forces are now unified!

Arise of 10 dimensions
Well, maybe this isn't this simple, most of models of string theory require at least 10 dimensions(some even go till 26) to work. But how come we perceive only up-down-right-left and time?
there are many assumptions in it. One says that other dimensions are compressed up in a manner that we can't perceive them? It's like when you see paper from front you say it has length and breadth. but when you see it side wise you say its only an edge. some other hypothetic theories say that other higher dimensions are binded up in Branes.
